I have been using hypnosis for many years to help people quit smoking. In all that time, everyone has started smoking to fit in.
The subconscious mind wants to keep you safe and healthy, unfortunately the habit of smoking tricks the subconscious mind into thinking that smoking cigarettes is associated with safety and survival.
When you are in danger your chances of survival increase if you are in a group. This is why animals, fish and even insects hang around in groups. If the people or people that you look up to smoke cigarettes, then subconsciously you feel left out and thus less safe.
You smoke a cigarette and your conscious mind says, I’m fitting in so I’m going to transfer this habit to the subconscious mind. It goes, by smoking I’m part of a group, by being part of a group there is safety and survival. When this happens the subconscious associates safety and survival with smoking cigarettes. This is why the habit of smoking has such a strong hold.
If you want to stop smoking cigarettes you have to break this subconscious belief. Hypnosis enables you to give suggestions to the subconscious mind so that it breaks the belief of safety and survival. Once this has been accomplished then quit smoking can be achieved by suggesting to the subconscious that the habit of smoking can be changed to one of breathing fresh air.
