Smoking is like a clingy Ex

Smoking is like a clingy Ex

Smoking is like a clingy Ex that won’t stop bugging you

Smoking is like that clingy ex who just won’t go away – it may seem comforting at first, but it’s really not doing you any favours in the long run. Not only does it increase your risk of all kinds of health problems, from cancer to heart disease, but it can also drain your wallet and put a serious dent in your social life (who wants to be the one huddled outside in the rain, puffing away on a cigarette?).

But let’s be real – quitting smoking is easier said than […]

Tipping Point

It’s important to have reached the tipping point when you want to quit smoking. Not the physical tipping point where your body has been damaged, and you need to quit! The mental tipping point is when you feel ready, the point when your want to outweighs your need to.
A lot of people come to me to quit smoking, but they have been motivated by the things that are going on in their lives. Their lives are out of balance from things such as marriage failure, anxiety and stress etc.
In situations such as this, you need to balance your life. The […]

The Cost of Smoking

At Quit Smoking in 60 Minutes I ask my clients when they come in for quit smoking what it costs them. This is not just from the health view but how much money it actually costs to smoke cigarettes. Most people cannot tell me. Why is this? I think it is for two reasons;
1. The cost to smoke is not seen in a lump sum. Payment is packet by packet and so the total cost is not seen.
2. People don’t want to acknowledge the cost.
The actual cost of cigarettes makes more impact in first world countries as taxation has made […]

It can’t be done

The other day I was speaking to another clinical hypnotherapist who said that you could not quit smoking in 60 minutes with hypnotherapy. As the Quit Smoking Expert, I of course, disagree. I base this on the fact that at my clinic in Capalaba, I have a real success rate of about 95%. I base this statement on the follow-up and research I have done with my clients.

The habit of smoking resides in the unconscious mind and by changing the programming in the unconscious mind we can help a person to quit smoking. The unconscious mind wants you to be […]

Who Do You Trust?

Trust is an interesting concept, it can be defined as: Reliance on another person or entity. Trust starts to establish itself the moment you meet a person. You sum this up very quickly from how the person looks, speaks, how they stand and the tone of the voice. Trust then continues to build as you go along.

Hypnotherapy has a huge element of trust as quite often people think that they are doing something that is new or unknown. You are trusting the hypnotherapist to do the right thing by you.

Trust is also a two-way street, and not only does the […]

Some Chemicals Found in Cigarettes

Here are some hidden ingredients you can find in a cigarette. The toluene in glue and cigarettes is a toxic substance that produces euphoria and irritation of the airways and lungs. Cadmium is extremely poisonous and can be found in cigarettes, it results in kidney damage. Tar is an ingredient found in roads and tires as well as cigarettes. A two pack a day smoker inhales one gram of tar a day. That is a quart of thick, gooey tar inhaled a year. Mothballs contain naphthalenes, also found in cigarettes. This proven poison causes reproductive and brain breakdown. The arsenic […]

Smoking is a Habit

Habit can be defined as: an acquired pattern of behavior that often occurs automatically (Wikipedia)
Habits are routines of behavior that are repeated regularly and tend to occur subconsciously. The American Journal of Psychology defines habit as: “A habit, from the standpoint of psychology, is a more or less fixed way of thinking, willing, or feeling acquired through previous repetition of a mental experience.” Habitual behavior often goes unnoticed in persons exhibiting it, because a person does not need to engage in self-analysis when undertaking routine tasks. Habituation is an extremely simple form of learning, in which an organism, after […]

Where is Health in Your Values?

At Quit Smoking Expert in Capalaba, I am often asked by women why they were able to quit smoking when they were pregnant and then took it up after the baby was born.
This is all about your values and where they stand on your hierarchy list. You will live your life according to your values. The higher something is on your values hierarchy, the easier it is to accomplish, and you will not procrastinate. When a woman falls pregnant, health value often rises the list of values and often becomes the top value. The reason for this is that everybody […]

Emotional Smoking

Stress. Woman stressed

One of my clients came back the other day as he had started smoking. He started smoking within 48 hours of doing the quit process. When this happens, it usually happens for one of two reasons: you don’t want to quit or deep in the unconscious mind, there is a feeling that there is a benefit.
After some questioning, it transpired that the client thought that he wanted to quit smoking, but deep in his unconscious mind was an emotional tie to smoking. You see, the client was spending all his money and energy on bringing up […]

Smoking Is My Friend

I’ve recently had a few people that have come to me to quit smoking in 60 minutes in Capalaba that have told me that smoking is like a friend to them. It is always there, and they can get comfort from it.
This is seriously flawed thinking. Smoking will shorten your life, it is often a slow and miserable way to die, it increases your chance of stroke, it increases your chance of cancer and heart disease, plus many other things. If you knew someone that would slowly and surely kill you, would you be friends with them? Of course, the […]
