Quite often when I am helping a person to quit smoking I ask them if they think that their habit is controlling them. It always amazes when they say that it doesn’t.

It is often a person who is a heavy smoker and been doing it for a long time that says their smoking habit is not controlling them. When they say this I usually follow up with some questions on their smoking and lifestyle, what usually comes out is:

Perceptions to Quit Smoking

As they say perceptions are reality and that is why it is really good not to have perceptions of hypnosis but in particular hypnotic trance.

When someone has a perception of trance it does two things: it takes away from your concentration and if the trance is not like you imagined you think that you have not gone into trance. When this happens you then begin to question what has happened.

He Made Me Do It

I had a client that told me that her brother made her smoke cigarettes. She said that he was smoking and insisted that she smoke as well.

The question is, did he really make her smoke cigarettes? For me the answer is no. we all have choices and I would suggest that it was her choice to smoke. She could have just as easily chosen not to smoke!

Quit Smoking = Less Stress

Many people equate smoking to stress release. They smoke in a stressful situation to cope with the stress. The question is does smoking help with stress release?

The answer is no and yes! What? I hear you say, how can that be so?

When you smoke the nicotine from your cigarette causes your blood vessels to constrict very fast. This causes two things:

Your blood circulation is restricted.
