One of the keys to success is that you have to want to, but you also have to have good reasons to quit. In other words you have to want to but you also have to have a why!
In the course of the discussion before starting the process of quitting smoking I asked her why she wanted to quit smoking. She gave me her reasons and at the time I felt that they were not the true reasons. I ignored my intuition. Big Mistake!!
The next day she called me to say that she had not quit successfully so I had her back to do a reframe. This time I delved into her why much more thoroughly. I that the biggest reasons that she wanted to quit was that she wanted to protect her family from second hand smoking. She also did not feel fully included into her family as she had to leave them when she wanted to smoke.
We carried out the process citing these reasons and I am happy to say that she is now a permanent non-smoker.
The lesson for me is to listen to my intuition and make sure that a person’s why is the right why. A lesson for you if you want to quit smoking cigarettes is to make sure that your why is clear.
