Quiet often when someone comes to me to quit smoking they tell me that it is the only thing that is always there, it’s like a friend.

The problem is that this friend is slowly but surely killing them! It sounds dramatic but we know that smoking destroys your health and exposes you to a horrible way to die. You would not make friend with someone that would slowly but surely kill you, but that’s your friendship with smoking.
Let’s look a bit further at this relationship that people have with smoking. I think that you will agree that most people want a fair deal in life. I think that you would also agree that you would not enter into a deal where it’s not fair and it disadvantages you. The deal you have with smoking is unfair!
On the one side, you may think that your smoking helps you to relax, gives you time out etc. On the other side, your smoking shortens your life and can expose you to a horrible way to die. Not a fair deal in anyone’s book.
It makes perfect sense to quit smoking cigarettes. It makes perfect sense to stop smoking cigarettes and have a fair deal in life. It makes perfect sense to quit smoking and change friends.
When you quit smoking, you will realise that you didn’t lose a friend, you will realise that you never had one.
