Smoking is like a clingy Ex

Smoking is like a clingy Ex

Smoking is like a clingy Ex that won’t stop bugging you

Smoking is like that clingy ex who just won’t go away – it may seem comforting at first, but it’s really not doing you any favours in the long run. Not only does it increase your risk of all kinds of health problems, from cancer to heart disease, but it can also drain your wallet and put a serious dent in your social life (who wants to be the one huddled outside in the rain, puffing away on a cigarette?).

But let’s be real – quitting smoking is easier said than […]

It’s not safe to be successful – beliefs that keep us smoking

I had a client that came to see me the other day to be motivated and said that they were afraid of success. When someone comes to see me about this I know that it comes down to two things, firstly they are not leading their life in accordance with their top values and secondly, they have a limiting belief about success.

Let’s firstly look at the limiting belief of success. We all have limiting beliefs, and these come about from before we are born and continue until we die. The limiting beliefs come from our experiences in this world and […]

Where is Health in Your Values?

At Quit Smoking Expert in Capalaba, I am often asked by women why they were able to quit smoking when they were pregnant and then took it up after the baby was born.
This is all about your values and where they stand on your hierarchy list. You will live your life according to your values. The higher something is on your values hierarchy, the easier it is to accomplish, and you will not procrastinate. When a woman falls pregnant, health value often rises the list of values and often becomes the top value. The reason for this is that everybody […]

Emotional Smoking

Stress. Woman stressed

One of my clients came back the other day as he had started smoking. He started smoking within 48 hours of doing the quit process. When this happens, it usually happens for one of two reasons: you don’t want to quit or deep in the unconscious mind, there is a feeling that there is a benefit.
After some questioning, it transpired that the client thought that he wanted to quit smoking, but deep in his unconscious mind was an emotional tie to smoking. You see, the client was spending all his money and energy on bringing up […]

New Year Goals

Many of us will set goals this coming New Year and within six weeks we will give up? Why is that? The goals are set with the best of intention and often if achieved will benefit us greatly, as an example quit smoking. The reason why we give up on these goals is that that are not attached or in alignment with our greatest values. You see when a goal is attached to our highest values it is easy to obtain, when it is not in alignment with our ou will not achieve highest values we will procrastinate and not […]

Its in Your Values

A lot of people come to me feeling frustrated and beating themselves up because they can’t
quit smoking by themselves. They try willpower, patches, acupuncture, hypnosis
etc but still continue to smoke.

This is often because health is not at the top of their value system and they really do
not want to give up. Let’s look at the value system first:

Everybody has their own unique set of values and we all live our lives trying to fulfil
our values. If something is high in our value system we will do things to try
and fulfil it easily and will be focused. If that something is […]
