Smoking is like a clingy Ex

Smoking is like a clingy Ex

Smoking is like a clingy Ex that won’t stop bugging you

Smoking is like that clingy ex who just won’t go away – it may seem comforting at first, but it’s really not doing you any favours in the long run. Not only does it increase your risk of all kinds of health problems, from cancer to heart disease, but it can also drain your wallet and put a serious dent in your social life (who wants to be the one huddled outside in the rain, puffing away on a cigarette?).

But let’s be real – quitting smoking is easier said than […]

You Set Your Boundaries

When we are born, we all have the same abilities. If this is so why do some of us rise to the top of success and others of us do not? The answer is that we set the boundaries of what we can and cannot do. These boundaries are set from the moment we are born and they are often a result of fear.
Fear is both a positive and negative thing. It sets the flight response in us and gets us to move away from a potentially dangerous situation, or it can paralyse us and prevent us from reaching greater […]

Tipping Point

It’s important to have reached the tipping point when you want to quit smoking. Not the physical tipping point where your body has been damaged, and you need to quit! The mental tipping point is when you feel ready, the point when your want to outweighs your need to.
A lot of people come to me to quit smoking, but they have been motivated by the things that are going on in their lives. Their lives are out of balance from things such as marriage failure, anxiety and stress etc.
In situations such as this, you need to balance your life. The […]

What are you missing out on this Christmas? – Guest post by Simone

What are you missing out on this Christmas? – Guest post by Simone

When you’re the only one left smoking – What are you missing out on?

With Christmas just around the corner, I’m thinking of my own personal memories of social gatherings and my loved ones. My grandfather was a smoker, and while I don’t remember exactly when he quit, I do remember he did quit for health reasons. I come from a large family and Christmas was a big event like it is for most people. Even in the early 90’s my family members who smoked did so away from the kids. But I do remember them not being as present. Rather […]

Imagine you won $7,500

Imagine you won $7,500

Imagine this:

You’ve just won $7,500. Quite a sum of money. But what are you going to spend it on? But here’s the catch – I’ll give you only two options:

Family holiday at the beach

One year of cigarettes – health deteriorating, etc

VS

It should be an easy choice and at first glance you’d probably reach for the holiday, but in reality, you choose the cigarettes each and every day. They hold onto you, or at least that’s how it feels.

The idea of giving up cigarettes even for a year to get $7,500 in […]

More and more Australians are quitting smoking

More and more Australians are quitting smoking

Australian stats on smoking cigarettes (2020-2021).

Wow, What a couple of years it has been for, well, pretty much everyone. As Australians we have had a seeming onslaught of stressors starting back at the beginning of 2020 with a difficult and traumatic bush fire season and then ramping up into the Covid-19 pandemic. It would be rational to think that these things and other factors like flooding, climate change and inflation (and a possible recession) may have led to an increase in smoking. But did it?

Let’s take a look at the current statistics.

In the period 2020-2021, 10.7% of Australians smoke cigarettes […]

Vaping – A Dummy for Adults

                Adult Dummy?

What are e-cigarettes? Electronic cigarettes contain an inhaler, an atomiser and nicotine suspended in propylene glycol and water.

What do they look like? Like a normal cigarette including water vapour that resembles cigarette smoke. The products cost about $4 each and are approximately equivalent to one packet of cigarettes.

Are they available? They are banned from sale in Victoria but are being sold online for personal use.

Health risks? Authorities warn that ingestion of excessive nicotine can cause vomiting, breathing difficulties and, in extreme cases, death.

There is a chance that by using […]

How to Quit Smoking for Good

The negative health effects of smoking are well documented. Long term smoking significantly increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. It’s also a major contributing factor of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) – a group of lung conditions that result in bronchitis and emphysema.

Smoking is so damaging to the body that the CDC estimates that smokers cut their life expectancy by at least 10 years shorter than non-smokers. Yet even if you’re aware of these facts you might find it almost impossible to resist lighting up. Why? Because nicotine – the main ingredient in cigarettes – is incredibly addictive […]
