Why Shock Does Not Work

At Quit Smoking in 60 Minutes in Capalaba, I have been carrying out my own survey on the effect of the horrible pictures that they put on cigarette packets and the cost of smoking. Both these measures have been implemented to reduce the number of people who smoke.
In almost 100% of the people that I have surveyed, the picture on the pack has made no difference at all. I ask people if they know what the picture is on the pack and does it make them want to give up. In just about all cases, the person does not know […]

What You Think Is What You Get

What you think is definitely what you get. I often see this when carrying out quit smoking at Quit Smoking in 60 Minutes, Capalaba.
As with all things, what you think can be positive and negative. It amazes me how the majority of clients think negatively when it comes to quitting smoking. Things such as; I’ll have cravings or I can’t deal with stress. If you do think like this, then it is highly likely you will have cravings or won’t be able to deal with stress. When you change the habit of smoking in the subconscious mind, there are usually […]

Your Smoking Supports Me

I recently had a woman who came to see me to quit smoking. She was prone to skin cancers and had decided to quit smoking. She quit by willpower and chose not to be around her husband when he smoked. Usually, they would go outside and talk and smoke together, but now she chose not to go outside with her husband and smoke.
Her husband had countered this strategy by saying that by not smoking with him, she was not supporting him; he said, “how can you give up smoking when I am so stressed”. The reality is that many of […]

Do You Want To Quit ?

Love of Smoking  :

At one stage you probably loved smoking, this love affair might still be strong or you may have realised that you don’t really love it any more.
Your love of smoking may be so strong that you can’t free yourself from it. People love, or think they love all kinds of people, substances or ideas that undermine or help to destroy them.
You may now hate smoking but you have been so locked into the habit that it is just to hard to give up. It’s easier to continue with the old and familiar.
I’m going to make a suggestion […]

Set Yourself Up for Success

People who want to quit smoking often want to set themselves up for failure, this may be consciously or unconsciously.

When people come to me at Quit Smoking in 60 Minutes in Capalaba, they can tell me all the reasons why they want to quit smoking but very few reasons why they cannot quit smoking.

In their minds, they see smoking is a crutch or a friend. Many people see that smoking as a way to help them destress. Many people from the Cleveland, Wynnum and Manly areas say they cannot handle a stressful situation without smoking. The answer is that you […]

Does Smoking affect your skin?

Are you a smoker with an “it won’t happen to me” mindset? If your health is not enough to stop you, is the price of your good looks?

It’s a fact — apart from sun damage, smoking ages the skin faster than anything else. So why are so many still lighting up?

Smoker’s face

Medical dictionaries coined the term in the ’60s to describe the ageing effect cigarette smoke has on the skin. Wrinkles, a grey, lifeless complexion and bony contours were the words used — surely enough to scare off any potential smokers? Apparently not: 27 per cent of Aussie women […]

Allow yourself to go into Trance

Just recently I was working with a customer who was finding it really hard to go into trance to quit smoking. He would allow himself to go into a light trance but when it came to going into a deeper trance he would not allow it to happen. When we explored trance and knew that he was going into trance and did not have to quit smoking he allowed himself to go into deep trance. After talking about this I found out that he has a fear of withdrawal symptoms. In the past he has given up but by the […]

Does Smoking affect your Sleep?

Smoking cigarettes or using other tobacco products like cigars can affect your sleep in several ways. Smoking and sleep disturbance often go hand in hand with each other. All stimulants interfere with the body’s ability to fall and stay asleep.
It all has to do with the active ingredient, nicotine.

First, depending on your level of use and dependence, your desire for additional nicotine during your sleep may cause you to awaken and lead to insomnia. Nicotine itself is a stimulant, and the use of it too close to bedtime may also make it difficult for you to fall asleep. Dependency means […]

What is Nicotine and Why is it hard to Quit Smoking?

Most regular smokers will agree that a cigarette after a meal is one of life’s simple pleasures. Same with the wake-up smoke, the work-break smoke, the stress smoke and the morning coffee smoke. While smokers will list a variety of reasons why they continue to smoke despite the fact that half of them will die younger because of it, the real truth can largely be boiled down to one fact — they’re addicted to nicotine. Most people know the word, but many may not actually know what it is. Here’s the skinny: Nicotine is a naturally occurring colorless liquid in […]
